HOAT Antifreeze

Had a greate deal of difficulty in finding the recommended antifreesze/collant for my Jeep in the UK, in fact even one Jeep dealer I asked was using the wrong thing.

So for future reference there is only one make of HOAT antifreeze that I could find for sale in the uk.

Comma Oils Xstream G05, it makes matters worse since the material for this does not actually mention that it is a HOAT amtifreeze but it does contain the correct formulation for my jeep (a diesel btw).

Go to their web site, search for a local dealer and they should order it for you, that’s what I did.

Took your advice and looked up the Comma Xstream G05, as a replacement for Jeep GC 2.7 CRD 2004.
Everything I could find out about G05 elsewhere on the web, does indeed say it is HOAT ,but when I rang Comma technical they said none of their anti-freezes were HOAT !!!!
To complicate further- when you use Comma’s specification finder for that vehicle they say use Xstream G48 . They then couldnt really answer why they were recommending a non Hoat product when the Jeep Owners handbook is quite specific about using Hoat.

Any comments? How have you got on using the Xstream G05. They did seem very adamant that non of their anti freezes were HOAT.

The website does indeed list the G48 but I am sure that is wrong.

The package for the G05 lists the formulation code that matches information on Jeep websites for a HOAT that is correct, albeit not the owners manual for the CRD 2.7 but that lists the name of the product they recommend and another owners manual matches both together.

I have had it in place now for a while and it is working perfectly as far as I can tell. The main thing is to make sure what you use is suitible for american deisel engines since that this the risk re corrossion.

    Thanks
Yours is the Merc 2.7 CRD ,aswell ,isnt it?
Dont quite understand American Deisel reference- its a Mercedes Deisel ,which is European.

No, my comments re antifreeze are for Jeeps as per the original text. The Merc may be the same but I can’t say

The Grand Cherokee ltd in Europe has the Merc 5 cylinder 2.7 CRD unit in it.
